MATCO's MPEG2 Video Server Overview
General Information:
MATCO offers two Standard Video Servers series. Both run the same software and posses identical capabilities. The series chassis hardware features will define the RU size and capacity for channels and storage. Features may be omitted or modified to accommodate the requirements of individual broadcasters.
Hardware:
- Standard Video Server models are housed in industrial rack mount enclosures; 3, or 4 RU depending upon the model.
- They run under the Windows XP operating system, and all come with either a fully loaded backup system drive, or Mirrored System Drives (your call).
- All Drives, System and Media, are front panel removable.
- All Servers may contain any combination of Input or Output Channels, up to the maximum for the model. Channels may be added at any time.
- Full Manual Control, as well as a Full Automation Package is standard in all Servers.
- All Servers come with one Slim Optical Drive, and support General Purpose Inputs and Outputs, as well as dual RS232 Serial ports, and dual 10/100/1000 Ethernet.
- Network Serial Adaptors (MATCO MA-120 series), may be added in groups of 4, 8 or 16 additional RS232/RS422/RS485 programmable serial communication ports to access numerous external devices.
Servers may be networked together to create a Server that is larger than any one model permits. Two Servers may also be run in a 100% redundant mode, where should one Server fail, the other continues as if nothing happened. RAID 5 is standard (RAID 6 is optional) on either the MA-1600 or MA-3800 models.

MA-1600 |
- 3 RU Chassis with Intel CPU, 2GB Ram, XP, and one slim optical drive.
- Supports up to 4 Individual Channel Cards, Record or Play. When the IPOP1 card is used, 8 channels are possible (4 in and 4 out).
- 10 front removable 3.5 Drives, two for system (mirrored or backup), and the remaining 8 are available for Media Storage, as defined when ordered.
- With the Standard RAID 5 maximum storage is 7TB, with the RAID 6 option, maximum storage is 6TB.
- Dual redundant power supplies and cooling

MA-3800 |
- 4 RU Chassis with Intel CPU, 2GB Ram, XP and one slim optical drive.
- Supports up to 8 Individual Channel Cards, Record or Play. When the IPOP1 card is used, 16 channels are possible (8 in and 8 out).
- 16 front removable 3.5 Drives, two for system (mirrored or backup), and the remaining 14 are available for Media Storage, as defined when ordered. With the Standard RAID 5 maximum storage is 12TB, with the RAID 6 option, maximum storage is 10TB.
- Dual redundant power supplies and cooling.

Software:
MATCO application software is included to manage every aspect of the Servers Input and Output Channels, as well as control of any external devices connected to the on board, or networked serial ports, such as VTRs, DVD Players, Routing Switchers etc. Grass Valley ProCoder™ Software is included for background transcoding between digital formats (MPEG2, MPEG4, AVI, Windows Media, QuickTime, H.264 etc).
This transcoding may be done manually, or automatically.

Features are:
- Full Manual Control of all Input and Output Channels, including all Capture and Playback parameters.
- Full Automation Package for scheduled operation of the Input and Output Channels, as well as all attached hardware, over an unlimited period of time.
- Manual and Automated control of any manufactures Routing Switcher which supports a serial remote control port (RS232 or RS432).
- Virtual Element Marking, and Secondary Element Creation.
- Remote Network application Software is included for complete control over the network.
